James P. Johnson, is the youngest of eight children born to Lillian and Calvert Johnson of Baltimore, MD and the founder and Program Director of the Organization for Black Unity, Inc., and the New World Learning Center, Institute of the New World.

Growing up in a time when many Black people began shifting their thoughts and energies from loving God, building good character and living a modest life to inclusion in the majority society, individualism and a love for material gave birth to his story – The Mine Mind Family.
